We've been doing a lot of housing in a danchi (neighborhood) that's close to where we used to live. So we knock on the door, and this gaijin (white) lady opens the door. Whaa??? She looked at us and said hi...in ENGLISH!!! WHAA??? That was so weird. At first, I really didn't know what to do. So I told her who we were, and we just kind of talked for a minute. They are missionaries for their church too. Then she was like, "Do you want to come in?" ehhh???? That was the first time anyone has ever invited me in before! So we were like, "Ya...we'd love to!" So we went in and talked to her. It's her, her husband, a daughter, and a son (but the son wasn't there). They're from California, and they came to help out their church. Their church is struggling, so they volunteered, sold everything, and moved here. Crazy right? They are non-denominational Christians though. The husband is of Japanese descent, but neither one of them really speaks Japanese. They're in kind of a tough situation right now. But anyways, I just talked to the lady. She is super nice, and really loves God and has so much faith! I explained some of what we do as missionaries and things like that. Mostly we just chatted and got to know them a little. She is SO NICE. And she was just happy and friendly. She told us to come by anytime...that we were always welcome. And then she asked if we could exchange phone numbers. What?! I was like almost having a heart attack at this point. She was pretty much doing my job for me. So we exchanged numbers and stuff. The only awkward thing is that they are missionaries for a different church. I told them that I really respected them for coming out here and being missionaries for their church. Then I asked them when we came back if it would be OK to share a message about our church and what we believe. It was a little scary, but the Lord was definitely helping. You know what she said? She said that of course that was all right and that she even had some books about lots of different religions, and she would find our church and read about it so that she could ask questions when we came back. What? I was pretty much so happy I could have died. Needless to say, we're going back this week. :) But seriously, I just love them so much already!
Then we had a member (the Primary President) call us during the week and ask if it was OK if she fasted for Baba san with us. How awesome is she?!?!? So, yesterday we all fasted together for Baba san to get healthy enough for us to teach her again. She asked us to go to Primary and challenge all the children to pray for Baba san too. So awesome! We also got a new ward mission leader. He is so awesome! He is kind of intimidating, but great! He is really proactive and wants to help! SO cool!
So pretty much this week was amazing! Being a missionary is seriously the best thing ever!! Things are tough sometimes, but really this is the Lord's work! I can't even tell you how much this mission means to me! This Church is true! I am 100% sure of it! God is our Heavenly Father. He loves us and wants us to return to live with Him. The Atonement is real, and through it, all things are made right. Jesus Christ lives! He is our Savior and Redeemer. Joseph Smith was a prophet, and he restored the true Church to the earth. The Book of Mormon is so true. Reading that book will definitely bring you closer to Heavenly Father and you can find answers to any question in it. It is true! All of it!
Thanks for the love and support!
